- Two hot but aging actors who have yet to prove their worth (Paul Walker and Hayden Christensen) + a couple of hip-hop stars who are trying to build their resume and gain credibility (Chris Brown, T.I.) + an unoriginal plot = “Bone Deep” from Screen Gems.

- A new Mitch Hurwitz (creator of “Arrested Development” and “The Ellen Show“) comedy?! Sounds great! Wait…Jason Biggs is set to star? He has been completely unimpressive thus far in his career. Couldn’t even shine in a little guest spot on a Will & Grace re-run that I saw the other day. Still, the premise sounds promising. Perhaps because it echoes from real life? “The comedy revolves around adult siblings and their parents who are over-involved in one another’s lives.”

- Those Germans are a testy bunch! First Tom Cruise’s “Valkyrie” got some heat and now it’s Tarantino’s “Inglorious Bastards“.

- Another remake: “Ghostbusters“. Yawn. At least they got “The Office” writers.

- Any indie comedy set in an office/company and boasts a cast like this: Martin Landau (contender for best “Entourage” guest appearance…”Is that something that might interest you?”), Steve Zahn (commendable work in Chicken Little), Steve Buscemi (who was awesome in Paris, Je T’aime) and Ron Livingston (hello, Office Space!) gets my vote! “The Company Men” is set to start shooting in November in Detroit and is about “a collapsing toy company struggling to maintain its survival.”

- Paul Bettany and wife Jennifer Connelly will play husband and wife on-screen in “Creation,” a film about the father of the evolution theory, Charles Darwin. I’m no scientific geek but this sure makes it sound interesting: “John Amiel’s film portrays Darwin as a man torn between his love for his deeply religious wife and his own growing belief in a world where God has no place. The scientist finds himself caught in a struggle between faith and reason, love and truth.”

- ABC continues to borrow steal programming from overseas, specifically Japan: ABC has ordered a pilot for Mark Burnett’s “Shark Tank,” an adaptation of the Japanese reality format “Dragon’s Den.” Dude, no one watches “The Apprentice” anymore.

- A few more tidbits on Tarantino’s “Inglorious Bastards“: the Weinstein Co. and Universal are co-financing and co-presenting the film. The cast includes: Diane Kruger (“Troy”), Brad Pitt, and Mike Meyers.

- Aside from Battlestar Galactica, you’ll find me hesitant to get into the sci-fi genre, whether film or TV. But put Greg Berlanti behind it and it’s a whole new ball game. With Berlanti’s penchant and knack for drama and complex relationships (“Brothers and Sisters“, “Dirty Sexy Money“) and Rene Echevarri’s experience in the sci-fi world (he exec produced “The 4400” and “Dark Angel“) this just might have a chance at obtaining an hour of my precious TV watching time. The project, being produced for ABC Studios, where Berlanti has an overall deal, is entitled “The Return” and “revolves around the impact on the world — including the White House — when aliens land.”

- I’m not a huge follower of the “Frasier“-type comedy, but this premise has decent quirky and funny potential. I’m pretty much a sucker for all things mockumentary: “Untitled laffer will revolve around a traditional married couple and their three kids; an older guy, his younger wife and their adopted son; and a gay couple who have just adopted an Asian infant. All three families live in the same suburb, and the Dutch documentarian, meanwhile, has returned to the U.S., where he lived with one of the American characters as an exchange student 15 or 20 years ago.” Steven Levitan and Chris Lloyd are at the helm of this pilot for ABC. Together they created last season’s Fox sitcom “Back to You.” Their other credits include “Wings” and “Just Shoot Me” for Levitan.

- A Hollywood film that satirizes the left? Director-writer David Zucker (“Airplane!,” “Naked Gun“) has begun screening his upcoming film “An American Carol“, a comedy satire, spoofing “A Christmas Carol.” the pic centers on a Michael Moore-like filmmaker (Kevin Farley) who is campaigning to end the Fourth of July. He gets visited by three ghosts — those of George Washington, George S. Patton and John F. Kennedy — who try to get him to rethink his ways. The cast also includes Kelsey Grammer, Jon Voight, James Woods, Leslie Nielsen and Dennis Hopper. Even Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly has a cameo.Zucker was a longtime Democrat who backed Al Gore in 2000, but his political views changed after 9/11. He’s a McCain supporter who describes himself as a centrist, pro-choice and pro-environment (he has two Priuses).
